Adelaide's EV charger installers. Charge on sunshine, not the grid.

If you drive an EV and have solar panels, you’re paying for petrol with free energy you already own. We install home and commercial EV chargers wired straight into your solar system.

Why install an EV charger

You switched to an EV to cut fuel costs. A proper home charger is the next step.

Most EV owners start by charging from a standard 10A household socket, a Level 1 charger that can take 20+ hours to fill a modern battery. It works in a pinch, but it’s not what you bought an electric vehicle for. A dedicated Level 2 charger (7–22kW) cuts that to 3–8 hours and lets you reliably wake up to a full charge every single morning.

The real opportunity is pairing your EV charger with solar panels. If you’re already generating solar during the day, a smart charger can route that surplus energy directly into your car instead of exporting it to the grid at a low feed-in tariff rate. Charging from your own roof costs as little as 3 cents per kilometre, compared to 20+ cents if you charge from the grid at standard rates.

Whether you’re after a straightforward home charge point or a multi-bay commercial installation, we supply and install the right solution for your setup, and integrate it cleanly with your existing solar system.

Ask us before you buy the wrong charger

Not all chargers, or installs, are the same. Let's talk it through.

Call now and we’ll walk you through 7kW vs 11kW, single vs multi-bay, and what actually works with your switchboard.

Complete your system

A battery works best as part of a complete system.

We design panels, inverters, and batteries together as one system, not as separate add-ons sold later by someone else.

Home EV Charger Installation

A dedicated 7kW, 11kW, or 22kW AC wall-mounted charger installed in your garage or carport. DC bi-directional options (12kW and 25kW) also available. Charges most EVs fully overnight from a flat battery, and integrates with your solar system to prioritise surplus solar generation when available.

Commercial EV Charger Installation

Multi-bay charging solutions for office car parks, retail centres, hospitality venues, fleet depots, and strata properties. We design and install systems from a single workplace charger to a full multi-port DC fast-charging hub.

Solar + EV

The combination that makes solar even better.

An EV charger is the highest-value appliance you can add to a solar system. A typical EV adds 10–15kWh of daily energy demand, which means you get full value from every kilowatt-hour your panels generate instead of exporting it for a few cents.

Solar boost charging

Smart chargers detect when your solar system is producing surplus power and automatically ramp up charging to absorb it, turning free solar generation into free kilometres instead of low-rate export credits.

App-controlled scheduling

Set your charger to run during peak solar hours, avoid grid demand charges in the evening, or schedule overnight charging on cheaper off-peak tariffs, all from your phone, automatically.

Battery + EV: the complete system

Add a home battery alongside your EV charger and you can store solar during the day, charge your car from the battery overnight, and draw from the grid only as a last resort. True energy independence.

What we deliver

Supply, install, configure: one team, one job.

We handle everything from the equipment selection to the electrical work to the app setup. No co-ordinating between an electrician and a supplier.

Right charger, right spec

We assess your vehicle, your garage setup, your switchboard capacity, and your solar system before recommending a charger. The right unit for a Tesla Model 3 is different from the right unit for a Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Licensed electrical installation

All EV charger installations require a licensed electrician in South Australia. Our team handles the dedicated circuit, switchboard connections, conduit, and weatherproofing, all to AS/NZS standard and with a Certificate of Compliance.

Solar system integration

If you have an existing solar system, we configure your charger to communicate with your inverter so it automatically prioritises surplus solar. No guesswork, no manual switching, it manages itself.

App setup & walkthrough

We set up your charger's app, configure your charging schedule preferences, and walk you through how to get the most out of your setup before we leave. You know exactly what's happening before we drive away.

Compliance certificate

Every installation includes an electrical Certificate of Compliance, required for home insurance validity and important if you ever sell your property. We handle the documentation, you keep the paperwork.

Aftercare & support

We're a local Adelaide business. If your charger ever has an issue (firmware update, connectivity problem, or hardware fault), you call the same number and talk to the same team. No overseas support lines.

How it works

From quote to charging: most home installs done in half a day.

1

Free quote

Tell us your vehicle, your garage setup, and whether you have solar. We’ll spec the right charger and provide a clear, fixed price, usually within 24 hours.

2

Site check

For larger or more complex installations we do a brief site visit to confirm switchboard capacity, cable routing, and charger placement before we start work.

3

Installation day

Our licensed electrician arrives, installs the charger and dedicated circuit, connects to your solar system, and issues the Certificate of Compliance. Most home installs take 2–4 hours.

4

App setup & handover

We configure the app, set your preferred charging schedule, walk you through the settings, and make sure you’re fully comfortable before we leave. You’re ready to charge from day one.

Why Bright Earth Solar

We know solar. That's what makes us the right choice for your EV charger.

Most EV charger installers are electricians without solar expertise. Most solar companies don’t install chargers. We do both, which means we actually understand how to integrate your charger with your panels correctly, not just wire a box to a wall.

Common questions

Everything you need to know about home EV charging.

Do I need solar panels to install an EV charger?

No. An EV charger works fine without solar. It just charges from the grid. But pairing a charger with solar is where the real savings come from, so if you don't have solar yet it's worth considering both at the same time.

Will an EV charger work with my existing solar system?

Yes. We configure your charger to communicate with your existing inverter so it can detect surplus solar and ramp up charging accordingly. We've integrated chargers with Fronius, GoodWe, Sigenergy, and most other common inverter brands.

What EV brands are compatible?

All mainstream EVs sold in Australia use a Type 2 (Mennekes) connector or CCS2 for the charging socket. Our Level 2 chargers are compatible with Tesla, BYD, Hyundai, Kia, MG, Polestar, Volvo, Nissan, and all other brands. We confirm compatibility at the quote stage.

Can I get a charger if I live in an apartment or strata building?

Yes, with strata approval. Commercial multi-bay chargers can be installed in apartment car parks, typically with RFID access control so individual residents can track and be billed for their usage. We can assist with strata proposal documentation.

How much does it cost to install an EV charger in Adelaide?

Cost depends on charger type, switchboard condition, and whether the install is solar-integrated. We provide fixed-price quotes within 24 hours after a brief assessment, so if you're comparing EV charger installers near you, ask each one for a fixed price up front, not just a ballpark.

What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?

Level 1 is a standard 10A household socket, slow (1.5–2.4kW, 20+ hours for a full charge). Level 2 is a dedicated 7kW or 11kW wall charger that charges most EVs fully in 3–8 hours. We install Level 2 chargers.

How long does installation take?

Most residential EV charger installations take 2–4 hours. We run a dedicated circuit from your switchboard, mount the charger, connect and test it, configure the app, and issue your Certificate of Compliance, all in one visit.

Does my switchboard need upgrading?

Sometimes. A 7kW charger draws about 32A, which requires a dedicated circuit and adequate switchboard capacity. We assess your switchboard at the quote stage. If an upgrade is needed, we'll include it in the quote upfront.

Is there a government rebate for EV chargers in SA?

Home EV charger rebates vary by state and change over time, check the SA Government website for current offerings. We can advise on what's available at the time of your quote and confirm the installation meets eligibility requirements.

Can I install an EV charger myself, or does it need a licensed electrician?

By law, no. EV chargers are hard-wired appliances and must be installed by a licensed electrician under Australian wiring standards. DIY installation isn't just risky, it's illegal, and it can void both your charger's warranty and your home insurance. Our installers are licensed and SAA accredited, so every install comes with the required compliance certificate.
